On 25 July 2025, the Lions Club of Singapore Lotusia marked a key milestone with the official handover of leadership to its second President, Jacob Tao. He succeeds Chartered President, Andy Ma, continuing the Club’s mission to embed structured, inclusive, and values-driven philanthropy inSingapore’s evolving social fabric.
Established in 2023 under the charter of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest volunteer service organization, Lions Club of Singapore Lotusia is uniquely positioned at the intersection of business, social responsibility, and new migrant integration. Backed by Lotusia Group, the Club represents a new generation of civic engagement that blends charity, culture, and enterprise.
A Structured Approach to Community Service
Over the past two years, the Lions Club of Singapore Lotusia has rolled out initiatives targeting elderly care, environmental protection, cultural inclusion, and festive giving. Signature programmes include:
- Elderly companionship and visits to nursing homes
- Beach cleanups with youth environmental groups
- Themed dinners and auctions, raising over S$10,000 in 2024 to support holiday food distribution for underprivileged families
The Club introduced a hybrid charity and networking model, making social contribution a part of business and professional culture.
"The Lions Club is a structured framework, but its true value depends on how localised it becomes," said incoming President, Jacob Tao. "We aim to build structured philanthropy, not one-off donations."
A Supportive National Enviornment for Giving
Singapore ranks among the world's most supportive countries for institutional giving, backed by over S$600 million in government matching grants. Most approved donations to IPC (Institutions of Public Character) enjoy 250 percent tax deductions, making charity both impactful and financially sustainable for individuals and businesses.
New initiatives such as SG Gives enhancements and the Cultural Matching Fund of S$100 million through 2029 are also driving corporate and personal engagement, especially for new residents pursuing long-term integration.
In 2024, Singapore ranked third globally in the World Giving Index. This reflects its policy infrastructure, civic participation, and mature ecosystem of service organisations.
The 2025 – 2026 Roadmap
Under the leadership of Jacob, who also serves as the Co-Ceo of Lotusia Group, the Club is entering a new phase of strategic project delivery and governance enhancement.
Between July and December 2025, the Club will roll out a series of programmes:
- July: Sponsorship of a basketball education session to support local youth development

A Call to Collaborate
The ceremony on 25 July featured Lions Club traditions such as bell ringing and a leadership baton handover, symbolizing the Club’s transition from founding stage to sustained governance.
The Lions Club of Singapore Lotusia welcomes new members, corporate partners, and supporters who share its belief that charity is not just a cause. It is a collective identity.
"The real power of Lions Club lies in helping business leaders become not just successful but meaningful", said Andy Ma, Chartered President.
